Rapha ElHe healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3) There was a breach and a separation. Man, seeking to go his own way turned away and separated from the source of all life -- and died. Died physically, though not right away, and died spiritually. The physical death is a long slow process of dis-ease -- no ease -- sorrow, pain and grief. What we call "sickness" is just how it looks physically. The real sickness is in the heart. And, that is what must be healed. The body dies, but the heart comes alive with the spirit of God. And so it is: God is our healer - Rapha El. Yes there is physical healing. Again and again the people sought Jesus and cried out from their despair, "Heal me!" and He did. He did not ask if they were "good" and did not ask them to perform some ritual, change the diet and get some exercise, quit smoking or drinking. He just said, "Your faith has made you whole." It is His nature to heal so how could He not heal. All they needed was a little faith. But the real healing must take place in the heart. Separation from the Creator is a gash that must be sewn up and closed. And that is what He did. With Himself, Jesus stitched together the gash that separates us from the Father. We are one in Him and He is one with the Father, and we are made whole again. Rapha El -- healed by God. And just like with the physical healing Jesus did, He only asks, "Will you have faith in me?" That's it. Nothing more. The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (Isaiah 61:1)
