Patience

Most of my life I have lacked patience. My mother told me once that when I was an infant I had a little pull toy that I liked to drag around with me. It would get tangled around a table leg and then I would stand there and yank and yank on it, screaming at the top of my lungs until someone came and untangled it. So, without much patience I've had to get by on sheer stubbornness, which I seem to have a double portion of.

I have had to learn patience. Sometimes, the Lord gives me a challenge, lets me work on it for awhile until I get the to point of complete frustration. When I give up, He takes over and gets things done. After a while I began to catch on. Just have patience and the Lord will work things to the way He wants them.

Also, the Lord has made some promises to me, yet unfulfilled, and then made me wait and wait and wait. Everyday I ask, "Today?" and He just says, "Soon." So He is teaching me patience that way. Once, He told me to go study Hebrews. I have about enough patience now to fill up a thimble, but at least it's a start!

A good word study is to use a Concordance and look up all the places patience is used.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (Rom. 15:4)

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. (Heb. 6:15) (Speaking of Abraham)

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. (Heb. 10:36-39)
