Who Needs You!

"I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keepnot back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory,I have formed him; yea, I have made him."† (Isa 43:6-7 )

I donít know why I have to do stuff for God. He isall-powerful and certainly doesnít need me! He could shine His glory down fromheaven and there would be no doubt about anything. If someone is sick, He canheal them with a word when they ask, so what purpose is there for me to prayfor them? Whatís more, if there is something not right, He can by a single wordchange it all around and make it right. So, why should I fight the wrongs ofthe world? So, I have to ask, what for? Why doesnít God do that? And, why canítI just be a spectator and watch what He does?

If He wants me to know something, He can just tell me. So,there is no need to listen to anyone else either! And, I shouldnít have todepend on other people, since they are weak (like me), have limitedunderstanding (like me), make mistakes (like me), fail to keep their promises(like me), etc. Much better to depend on God alone! Who needs you? Who needsme?

It took me a long time to understand this, and I will sayitís a little complicated, but Iíll try to make it short. God doesnít NEED us;He wants us. He wants us to share in His work. He wants us to learn how Heaccomplishes things by having us participate in His work. He wants us to havethe enjoyment of accomplishment, of fellowship, and the joy of sharing His workwith others.

Even more, by using us His glory is shown to be greater thanwe might have otherwise seen. Itís like someone who says, "Iíll fight you withone hand tied behind my back!" The one who is most powerful can accomplish whathe wants without having to use all that power. Not only can God do everythingHimself, He can also accomplish His purposes with weak, human vessels. Thatísincredible if you ask me.

God works in us and through us. We may not always understandthe purpose of His word to us, and we may not always get it exactly right. However, when we are willing to live by His word, to be perfect servants, wecan become the instruments of His glory. Thatís amazing to me, and I considerit an honor and a privilege to serve Him.

"Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and myservant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understandthat I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be afterme." (Isa 43:10 )
